I work for a broadband cable company *name excluded* aand i do tech/internet support for customers. I had this one guy a few weeks ago who just bought his own wireless rtr to have a laptop pc connect in his home. but the customer had a problem with getting a stong signal strength, even though customer was sitting right next to his wireless router with his laptop. He goes on to insist that it's something with the "signal" of our service and our service is to blame, blah blah blah. i go on to explain to him that the signal strength that he is seeing on his pc is directly related to the signal strength from the ROUTER not the cable signal coming in. He refused to believe my explaination. to try and further clear up what i mean, i explain that the wireless router in essence is bascially a really complex cordless phone, and go on to say, if you're getting a poor "signal" than it's something with the cordelss phone/base and not the phone line coming in. he outright said, "I don't believe you" and hung up :-/ ...sigh
