I got a call out of the blue from one of my clients, whom I had not heard from in months and months. I manage his internet advertising program. He was concerned that he was not getting much traffic to his site and it was now his peak xmas sales season. He wanted to know what was wrong. I told him that I was a bit surpriese to hear from him, since he had not responded to several emails I had sent him regarding problems with his program (he had redone his website, causing all the links from the ads to break), and the fact that he had not paid or acknowledged any of the invoices I had sent him.
He became enraged, ranting verbosely about it being his biggest season of the year, that his ads were not running, etc. until he got to the point of saying "... and I've paid $XXXX for this!? -- You're FIRED!" At which time I pointed out that the reason for the situation was that he had not paid anything and that he had ignored my attempts to work with him on his account.
