This doesn't involve a client so much as an internet illiterate 10 year old who happened to be me at the time. (I'm much better now.)
Anyway this was 12 years ago when the internet was a new idea and the only reason for computers (in a certain 10 year old's eyes) was for playing games. I got stuck in an adventure game, one of the many Blank Quest games, and had been wracking my brain for a week to no avail. I finally got the idea in my head that this 'internet thing' was full of answers, right? Surely the solution to this puzzle is out there.
My first immodest step into the online world was to email *everyone* in my family's contact list (I was working through a family computer) asking basically "Hello internet world, can anyone tell me how to escape the gas in such and such place in such and such game?"
My parents and big brother were not amused when they discovered they had to contact all their friends, family, coworkers, and even bosses to explain "Sorry, my son/little brother is a n00b"
I never did get any advice for the game... hey, does anyone here know how to escape from...
