An email exchange between a Client and myself today:
Client: I need my ftp login and password so I can make some changes to my website in Frontpage.
Me: I don't recommend it (insert several reasons, one of which being that the Client knows next to nothing about computers).
Client: I want the ftp login and password anyway. I know what I am doing.
Me: Ok, your info is ....
[5 minutes later]
Client: I just logged into my website and something is wrong!!! It has reverted back to the old version of the website.
Me: It looks like you overwrote the newest files with an older set of files that is on your computer. I can fix it, but the charge will be $.....
Client: What? But I didn't do anything at all. It must have had a glitch or something.
Me: Didn't you just tell me that you were getting ready to make some changes in Frontpage? Also, the log shows that someone logged in using the new password that I provided you and uploaded files to replace the existing ones. You and I are the only ones with the new password and I know that I have not made any changes to the site.
[still haven't received a reply from the Client]
