True story. I sware.
Huge Canadian event - Tournament of Roses curling competition. Held in Kamloops one year where I was working. Each Sponsor got a certain number of event pins as part of their package. There were Bronze (hundreds of sponsors), Silver (only 25 sponsors) and Gold (a few).
Apparently curlers go the extra mile to collect those pins - especially the Gold & Silver (hard to get). Each staff member at our firm was given 5 pins to hand out to clients & attendee's as a promotion of our company's sponsorship.
On the last day of the event about noontime, one staff member comes running into the shop and says, "This lady just gave my $50.00 for my last pin!". As we were congratulatting him, the "stud" staff member comes in about 15 minutes later, hair messed up, clothing rumpled, looking exhausted. As we looked at him, he points to the other guy and says loudly, "And her friend didn't have any money ..."
To this day, my wife asks me what I got for my pins.
