I work for a cable company. We provide high speed internet, telephone, and of course, cable TV.

My favorite so far:

Customer: "My TV won't turn on."

Me: "Did you check the outlet to make sure it's working?"

Customer: "No, how do I do that?"

Me: "Plug something else into it. A lamp is easy to test and nicely portable."

Customer plugs lamp into outlet. "No, it won't work."

Me: "OK, looks like your outlet may be the problem."

Customer: "Hold on, let me try another outlet."

Me: "OK..."

Customer: plugs lamp into second outlet. "Yeah, it works here. When can you guys send a guy out?"

Me: Huh? "Sir, if the outlet isn't working, you'll need to call an electrician."

Customer: "Why can't you guys fix it? My cable isn't working!"

Me: "Sir, we're the cable company. We don't work on electrical outlets."

Customer: "Oh, so you can't send a guy out?"

Me: "I'm afraid not, sir."
