working at a quick print shop, i have the following conversation about once a week:
customer: how much are business cards?
me: well, that's kind of like saying how much is a car, or a house, or how much are a pair of shoes. it just depends on what you want and how much you want to pay for it.
me: ok, let's back up. do you want color or black and white?
me: alright. do you want it color on both sides or just one?
me: do you want it super glossy or just a regular print?
me: ok, what kind of stock do you want? thick, thin, ridged, smooth, white, off-white...
customer: just regular white. just whatever.
me: and how many do you want?
customer: i dunno, how many do you think i should get?
me: i have no earthly way of knowing, especially since i don't even know what business you're in yet.
customer: this is complicated, all i wanted was a price on business cards. i'll just go somewhere else.
