Response to #7519, breaking my usual "no metacomments" rule.
You suck at helpdesk. Sorry, but it's that simple.
I work helpdesk. It dreives me crazy and some of the staff I help are incredible dense, but I am paid to be helpful and polite and to do everything I can to resolve their issues.
Telling someone with missing emails "They're gone, deal with it" is just shitty service. If it's typical of your attitude in the workplace, you should be sacked.
Had the missing emails been moved to a subfolder? Did they have "show unread emails only" turned on? Had they done something really elementary and dumb like scrolling down past that day's emails?
Your job is to come up with ideas and test them, and if nothing works, to tell them NICELY that their emails have been lost and there's nothing that can be done.
I come on Clientcopia to have a whine about the idiots I have to deal with, but when dealing directly with them I am civil and helpful, and will do everything I can to solve their issues, regardless of how idiotic they may seem to me.
Why? Because it's my fucking job.
