I work in a school district, and it is district policy than any purchases over $500 have to be voted on and approved by the school board. So two weeks ago I submitted a requisition to buy two new projector lamps at $293.16 a piece for a total of $586.32. They looked at it and voted NO! for it. Their reason for denying it was because a lightbulb should not cost almost 300 bucks and instead they told me to just buy new projectors. So I got quotes on some projectors for about $3000 total. They voted on it and approved it.
They approved $3000 worth of equipment when $600 of replacement parts was perfectly adequate. Brilliant. Elected officials are idiots.
